Is generally believed that a cold main mode of transmission is through droplets in the air dissemination. In recent years, some scholars abroad through experimental studies suggest that influenza is not entirely through the air-borne, and mainly through the hands and the hands of direct contact, at least by the rhinovirus and respiratory syncytial virus is so cold.

In the United States弗尼吉亚State University Professor Jan has done three possible spread of influenza experiments: ① a cold virus donor and receptor under the same room 72 hours, and put a fence between the two, to prevent inter-hand contact with the hand in order to observe the small particles of the spread of aerosol; ② will be cold for the body with several receptor sitting on a small table, so that donor coughing, sneezing and talking at the time of the respiratory tract secretions sprayed receptors in order to observe the spread of aerosol particles; ③ to cold donor respiratory secretions pollution on our hands, and then contact receptor's hand, let receptors in their own hands have been contaminated contact nose and eyes, to observe the situation in direct contact. The experimental results are: 10 small aerosol particles of the receptor is not a case of cold; 12 large aerosol particles, only 1 receptors were cold; and 15 hands in direct contact with the receptor, there 11 were suffering from a cold. It can be speculated: direct contact with flu pathogen is an important means of dissemination.
